The increasing use of social media for information sharing has increased the need for information literacy (IL) to prepare students to be effective creators and communicators of information. One concern is that students sometimes pass on incorrect information at random. Understanding the reasons for misinformation sharing will help develop IL intervention strategies for digital literacy.
