TV commercials will change forever? Old models die like videos, The TV Gap Is Narrowing by Tom Goodwin

With the launch of DirectTV earlier this month, cutting cables to increase size is likely to become very real. But are we going to unlock the true potential of it or are we going to make the same mistakes we have made in the past? People in the industry see things very differently from people out there and have their own taste for irrelevant distractions like streaming versus broadcasting and nonsense between TV and video. Even in my technical support role at my agency and head of innovation, I have no idea when I watch or broadcast TV, I never know if it is stored locally or on-demand. However, our industry thrives on terms such as VOD, linear TV, traditional TV, SVOD, AVOD – terms that have fixed definitions but are meaningless.
