What is affiliate marketing?
Simply put, affiliate marketing is when you make money by helping someone sell your product or service.
As you can imagine, there is a lot of talk about photographic equipment at the School of Digital Photography: cameras, lenses, tripods, etc. And every time we mention a specific product, we add a link to the product on Amazon. That way, if the reader likes what they see, they can buy it on Amazon without looking.
We even help Amazon sell its cameras. And so Amazon rewards us by paying a small commission every time a reader buys your camera gear through one of our links.
Why do companies love affiliate marketing?
More and more companies are offering affiliate programs that work the same way. Why? Because it is a much safer way to spend your money on advertising.
When an advertiser pays you to place a banner ad for their business on their website, there is no guarantee that they will get a return on their investment. This banner can get thousands of clicks but can be easily ignored, especially now that adblockers are so popular.
But in affiliate marketing, it doesn’t matter if no one links the link because they didn’t pay to put it there. And they don’t have to pay the commission until after the sale.
When does affiliate marketing work best?
While this may seem like an easy way to monetize your blog, don’t expect to make quick money from your commission.
Affiliate marketing works best when you have three functions in your blog.
1. Authority or alleged jurisdiction in a matter. If you’re seen as someone who knows what you’re talking about, who is trustworthy, and has authority, that person is more likely to click on one of your affiliate links.
2. A relationship of trust between you and your readers. Affiliate marketing works much better when your readers feel they know, trust, and have a relationship with you.
3. Readers eager to buy. Not everyone comes to your blog to buy something. But if you regularly check products on your blog, they may be ready to buy at the end of your posts.
Affiliate marketing works even better if you have a lot of visitors. But it has to be the right kind of traffic. There is no point in bringing people to your blog who are not interested in the products you link to at all.

Amazon’s model of helping them sell products effectively on their website is not the only way to get involved in affiliate marketing.

1. Get involved with your readers
You need to take your relationship with your readers seriously because promoting the wrong product can do a lot of damage. Make sure it is relevant to them and never promote something that you do not want to buy yourself.
2. Strive for a pleasant location
An important part of affiliate marketing is the knowledge of your readers’ needs, wants, and wants (which you as a blogger should already know). This puts you in a good position to recommend products from an affiliate company that meets your needs, needs, and needs.
