Digital Marketing Skills You Might Not Have:
But it is absolutely essential when advertising.
There is good news and bad news.
The bad news is that specific marketing skills are needed to master modern marketing, especially paid advertising. These skills will be like a set of tools to help you survive in today’s business environment.
The good news is it’s not hard to master and our marketers are trying to find out too, so you’re not alone! And we have some great tips for mastering these skills.
Modern marketing is the wild west, and you can become the advertising weapon you need to succeed if you apply these five skills.
The five skills you need to master
Good writing skills are no longer just for communication graduates who are locked in the writing room. Every marketer should be able to write or write good copy every day.
Why copyright? Because marketing is obviously based on selling something. And copywriting is just the click or the sale. While other writing styles (such as creative writing or prose writing) can be helpful, you can take your marketing skills to the next level by writing.
But these must be the general principles of copyright. You don’t need to know the perfect paragraph structure for an ecommerce landing page (but if you do, it’s good for you). All you need is the basics.
You must be able to:
• A convincing hook
• Various benefits of points
• An external description of the paragraph
• A CTA Killer
Once nailed, you can use it anywhere. And yes, I mean everywhere. Write an ad? Break your hook. Looking for ad conversions? Try to make a better CTA.
Pro tip: Keep a copy of your roll file full of great copies of the brands you like. Did an ad you saw convert you? Take a screenshot to remind yourself of your good writing.
Writing is a skill that will take you farther than you expected, so stop typing and practice your fingers.
2. Create a funnel
The marketing funnel is the foundation of all marketing. Whatever you sell, you need to understand what an effective funnel is and how to make it a reality.
All of your customers are floating online (and offline) in a sea of other people’s content and products. To be successful, you need to find a way to get potential customers to buy your products.
You not only need to know how to create a funnel, but also how to optimize it. After all, a bad funnel is just as harmful and sometimes worse than any funnel. You need to know how to diagnose a faulty funnel and keep testing until you find the right solution.
Tip: You can always test different elements of the A/B funnel if you’re not sure which one is best. And stay tuned, we’ll talk about it later in the post.
But if you know the fundamentals of optimizing customer value, you’re already there!
3. Budget management
Budget management becomes a real impact when you work with paid advertising. If you run out of money too fast, you’ll never survive.
You worked hours and hours to find the right offer, copy, and design. The last thing you want to do is quickly create and run your ad. But you don’t want to overestimate your entire budget to suppress your ads.
Learning how to properly set an ad budget on Facebook and Google (or the ad platforms of your choice) means your money will exceed every dollar you spend.
But on a larger scale, you need to know how much your marketing budget should spend on advertising (a proposal, change over time) to get new leads at the right time.
Tip: Remember the funnel construction we just mentioned? This will also be discussed here. You want to optimize your budget for all levels of your marketing budget. It won’t just be an even distribution between the levels.
4. Track and analyze statistics
No matter how good your marketing is, you never know if you will be successful unless you measure your progress through tracking and stats. This applies to promotions, advertisements, new offers, and virtually every aspect of marketing. You need to know when to hold it and when to fold it.
If you don’t know how your ads are performing, how do you know when to increase your budget if you have no idea how your ads are performing? How do you know when to renew a sale if you don’t have a high conversion rate?
And the only way to do that is to know what your stats are and keep track of them regularly. You can do this via Google Analytics or another similar platform. The trick is to know which criteria really drive your business. Are these new clues? Maybe by clicking on the ads. Whatever it is, you should check them regularly to be the first if something goes wrong.
Professional Tip: Make sure you set and follow SMART goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and current.
5. Customer Survey
None of the things I just mentioned are important when doing a customer survey.
Whether you’re populating the Avatar Spreadsheet client page or creating a similar audience, you need to know who your audience is in order to target them. This means that you have to research very carefully.
You should regularly review the online spaces your customer’s visit (in addition to offline spaces like events or meetings) so you can keep track of what your customers want and need.
Tip: Not sure what your customers like and where they spend their time online? Ask him! Submit a survey or email your best customers in person. You can offer discounts or a gift in exchange for your time.
With the right information about your customers, you can create the right offers and ads to click at the right time. But only if it’s the right size. So make sure you know who your customers are.
After you master all of these skills, you’ll be on your way to the best marketing you’ve ever done. And you can ride the wave of constant change in the marketing world.
