Most U.S. marketers ready to quit in last year

Disappointing data from a new Sitecore survey

About 59% of U.S. marketers went on strike at least once in the past year, while 79% described the pandemic as the busiest period of their careers.

This is the most worrying statistic in a new survey of 400 marketers that Advanis conducted for the Sitecore digital experience platform. The reasons for the statistics are not difficult to find: 80% said that their responsibilities have increased significantly in the last year due to pressure from management, unrealistic deadlines, and drastic changes in strategy.

The fickle consumer. Interestingly, marketers are also under pressure from changes in consumer behavior. Based on a sample of 1,000 consumers, the survey found that up to 70% of consumers would leave a website if they couldn’t find what they were looking for with a click. 65% are less patient with bad online experiences after the pandemic and 42% say they are less loyal to brands during the same period.

The result of all these pressures and activities was not entirely bad: 81% of marketers believe that the digital transformation is bringing them closer to their customers.

Because we care. We can be very close to the events of 2020 to fully assess their impact on work environments and careers – we are still struggling to understand the extent of the impact on health. There are many stories about digital transformation and the acceptance of digital collaboration and engagement by marketing teams and other companies, which certainly have long-term benefits. But there was a human cost along the way.
